Construction Update
We are posting these pictures to update you on the progress of the site development. As you can, see the building addition which will double the size of the facilities has been framed. The roof, doors and windows are in the process of being installed. Thank you to the many people who have volunteered countless hours of their time and talents to make this happen. Groups from several churches in the Yuma area have come out to work on the project. The basketball court has been completed and is already being enjoyed by the families who meet for bible study on Thursday evenings. Thank you to all who have made financial contributions. Your donation of funds has gotten us this far and we gratefully acknowledge your generosity. There is still much work to do before this dream becomes a reality. We are only able to proceed with each step as funds are received to purchase materials. Our prayer is that additional funds will be donated very soon so that we can take advantage of the cool weather and our wonderful winter visitors who are eager to use their construction skills to help complete the work.
Hyder Christian Community Center
I’ve included a link to a video that explains the vision of providing a Christian community center for the families of Hyder and Dateland Arizona.
January 2006, leaders from Stone Ridge Church in Arizona saw an empty building that is now filling up with people, most of whom are poor. Stone Ridge members as well as other Christians from other places have spent thousands of hours as well as significant dollars to help develop this work. The Hyder members themselves are giving to this project, but their means are very limited. The truth is that this project is larger than we can get done in a timely manner. With the vision for this place to be a gathering place for the people in Hyder and the surrounding area, as well as a place where groups can meet for campouts and retreats, we are hoping that some others from the community might help us.
I hope you will watch this video and share it with others who might be interested in helping see this vision to reality.
Tax deductible donations can be made payable to Stone Ridge Church, 6300 E. 24th Street, Yuma, AZ 85365. Please write “Hyder Building Project” in the memo section of your check.
Please email hyderarizona@yahoo.com or leave a comment if you would like more information or if you would like to be contacted by a project coordinator.
Your prayers are greatly appreciated!
WHAT THE COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT WILL MEAN TO THE COMMUNITY
The completion of this project will provide a wholesome place for families to come and enjoy outdoor barbecues, games and campouts as well as a place for indoor recreation during the hot summer months. It will provide additional classroom space for teaching bible classes for all ages as well as for Christian retreats. There are presently no such facilities within many miles of this community. With the construction of the solar plant which is scheduled to begin this year, there will be many more families coming into the community.
